About Reco Foundation

Syrian-Led Environmental Leadership for a Resilient Future

Reco Foundation is a credible national and regional environmental actor, bridging communities, youth, institutions, and global policy spaces to drive systems change.

Who We Are

A Foundation Built for Impact

Established in 2022, Reco Foundation emerged from a recognition that Syria's environmental challenges require local leadership combined with global expertise. We are not an NGO in the traditional sense—we are a platform for environmental transformation.

Our team brings together environmental scientists, policy experts, community organizers, and young leaders who understand both the Syrian context and international best practices. This unique positioning allows us to bridge divides that typically separate grassroots action from policy change.

Vision

A Syria where environmental sustainability drives recovery, communities lead their own development, and youth shape a resilient future.

Mission

To catalyze environmental action through community empowerment, youth leadership, evidence-based advocacy, and strategic partnerships that create lasting systems change.

Values

Integrity, innovation, inclusivity, and impact. We hold ourselves to the highest standards while remaining adaptive to the realities of fragile contexts.

Why Reco Exists

The Syrian Context Demands a Different Approach

Syria faces interconnected environmental crises—water scarcity, pollution, degraded ecosystems, and climate vulnerability—compounded by years of conflict. Traditional humanitarian approaches alone cannot address these systemic challenges.

Community-Led

Solutions emerge from and are owned by the communities we serve

Evidence-Based

Decisions grounded in data, research, and practical experience

Youth-Driven

Young people as leaders, not just beneficiaries

Adaptive

Flexible approaches for fragile and changing contexts
